PRE INTERMEDIATES AND INTERMEDIATES

http://www.elllo.org/video/1151/V1176OlgaRomantic.htm

Hello. My name is Olga. I'm from Mexico. The question is what is a romantic dish to cook for someone? In my opinion, I think Italian cuisine is very romantic. For example, have you seen the movie The Lady and The Tramp? Yeah, they were eating spaghetti and they were, and it was really a romantic thing, right? Also, Italian cuisine goes very well with wine and other really romantic stuff and they create a really nice and comfortable feeling. So yeah, I think Italian cuisine is the most romantic dish.

 PRE INTERMEDIARTE

Aiste: Hello. My name is Aiste and I am from Lithuania.
Chris: And I'm Chris from Belgium.
Aiste: Today we are going to talk about tattoos.
Chris: Tattoos on elllo.org. And, Aiste, I have a question for you.
Aiste: Yes.
Chris: I like tattoos. I love tattoos. I think they are really nice and especially for a girl and I like that you would have a tattoo here on your back.
Aiste: Me?
Chris: Yeah.
Aiste: Yeah, but I never walk in the way that I would show my back so what's the sense in it, having a tattoo there?
Chris: Well, then you have to buy special tee shirts so you can show your tattoo. I mean a tee shirt that is just until here and then it shows this spot.
Aiste: I don't really like tattoos. I think, I think it's a little bit dirty. Don't you think so?
Chris: No, I think it...
Aiste: It's not nice.
Chris: It's very sexy, I think.
Aiste: No, but it's also expensive and stays all your life. I don't like that. If I would be old and then my skin is either destroyed or I have a tattoo, come on it's not nice at all.
Chris: OK, then I'll find another girl who likes tattoos.
Aiste: You don't really, saying that.

Sarah / England
My favorite restaurant would have to be a chicken restaurant called "Nando's." The menu is predominantly chicken and it's Portuguese style, so it's spicy. You can choose a spice and you can have it in the form of chicken on the bone, or you can have chicken burgers or chicken pitas. It's so very, very tasty and you can choose what different sides you have. It's so very, very nice.
Paul / England
My favorite restaurant is an Italian restaurant called "Napoli." It has some fantastic, delicious pizzas, mostly using thin base, again, which is common in Italian cooking. The quality of the ingredients is really good and very, very fresh, and the cooking isn't a long process. And so, you'd really get a feel for the Mediterranean when you eat there.
Warren / Canada
I'd say my favorite restaurant is something that has a lot of variety. I think it's quite common, maybe in a pub especially, to have food, not only from Canada but from around the world, so you might be able to get some Thai food or Japanese food, but it usually got a little bit of a Canadian twist to it.
Rese / Botswana
My favorite restaurant would have to be Nando's, actually. They have good choices for different sizes of chicken, from half to quarter to full-sized chickens, and they've got different flavors, which they spread on those chickens, that you can get. The French fries that come with the chicken are also quite tasty.
Dani / England
I don't really have a most favorite restaurant, I guess. Right now, though, if I have to say what my favorite restaurant would be, it would probably be the ItalianTomato Cafe. They serve a lot of different pastas there. They actually have a really nice one on the menu at the moment with pumpkin and cream dressing, and it's justdelicious.
Katia / Mexico
Yes, there's a very good restaurant. It's a tacos restaurant. They have very good tacos, with different kinds of sauces. Only one kind of meat, but the variety of sauces makes it really good.
Matt / United States
I think my favorite restaurant right now is Ramen Noodle Shop near where I live. It's my favorite because it's very cheap; it's less than five dollars for one bowl of noodles, but you can actually get as many bowls as you want for that same one price. So, it's very cheap and it tastes all right, too, so that's where I go most often.

MY GIRL - NIRVANA

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZXzVLxa7vLU

My girl, my girl, don't lie to me,
Tell me where did you sleep last night?

In the pines, in the pines
Where the sun will never shine
I would shiver the whole night through

My girl, my girl, where will you go?
I'm going where the cold wind blows

In the pines, in the pines
Where the sun will never shine
I would shiver the whole night through

Her husband, was a hard working man
Just about a mile from here
His head was found in a driving wheel

His head was found in a driving wheel
But his body never was found

My girl, my girl, don't lie to me,
Tell me where did you sleep last night?

In the pines, in the pines
Where the sun will never shine
I would shiver the whole night through

My girl, my girl, where will you go?
I'm going where the cold wind blows

In the pines, in the pines
Where the will never shine
I would shiver the whole night through

 PRE INTERMEDIATES AND INTERMEDIATES

http://www.elllo.org/english/Mixer126/T128-Obsolete.htm

Warren / Canada
As much as I like to read, I don't think books are going to be around forever. They take up a lot of space, and they use up a lot of material, a lot of natural resources. These days, we can already just have everything on aniPad or some other kind of electronic device. So, we don't really need them.
Antoinette / United States
I wonder. I think the television will become obsolete. we can access news broadcasts and television shows through the internet and on our computers, and even on our cellphones. So, huge, large, clanky televisions are probably on their way out.
Sarah / England
The technology that will become obsolete, I think, will be the CD. Now, we have the ability to download music and put that track directly on to a music player. I think the tangible item of a CD will be obsolete, because there is no need for them now. You can put them onto a pen drive or you can put them onto a music player, and you can always have them wherever you are.
Matt / United States
I think technologies, such as digital cameras and handheld gaming devices will become obsolete in the next two or three years. That's because they have new technologies that, such as cellphones that are gaming centers, that are digital cameras and do everything all in one. So, you don't need to have a cellphone and a digital camera. You don't need to have a cellphone and a handheld gaming device. You can have all in one.
Rese / Botswana
I think the desktop computers have really started to become obsolete and will continue to become more and more obsolete because of the various technologies, like laptops and iPads and iPhones that already give you access to all the things that a desktop computer can give you access to and that are more mobile than the desktop computer.
Lindsay / United States
I think cars someday in the future will become obsolete. We'll still have transportation vehicles, but it won't necessarily be a car dependent on oil. It might be like an electric car, or maybe it will be dependent on wind fuel or solar energy, something different.
