PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION

Kat / Germany
I don't use public transportation too often. When I still lived in my home town, it was just too small to have public transportation. Nowadays, I like to ride my car. I think public transportation is a great idea, but I really like the convenience of having my own vehicle.
Dani / England
All the time, especially here at the moment at the university, I always use the bus or the train or walk everywhere. I can't drive, so it's my only option really.
Shiloh / United States
At school, I use public transportation a lot to get from my home to my university. There's a regular bus service that runs between my house and my school, which is about five kilometers or so. But when I'm at home with my family in New Mexico, I don't use public transportation at all. I think that American public transportation is few and far between. it's not very well-funded, and it's not very good, unless you live in the city. Everybody has cars, so you don't really have a need for public transportation, because everybody is able to drive himself where they need to go.
Sarah / England
Public transport is something that I don't often use at all. Because I own a car, I normally just jump into the car and just drive wherever I need to go. The only time really that I go use public transport is when I'm traveling around London, because using the underground is a lot more easier than trying to drive through the busy roads.
Warren / Canada
Not so much these days. I have a car now, and where I'm living, the bus system isn't very good and there's no train station right by me, so I tend to drive.
Tim / United States
I don't use public transportation very often. It's not as common in America as it is in other countries. And I also own a car, so if I need to get anywhere, I just drive my own car, which is very convenient, because I can go wherever I want at whatever time I want without being dependent on a bus schedule or something like that.

I AM WIDE AWAKE

I'm wide awake
I'm wide awake
I'm wide awake
Yeah, I was in the dark
I was falling hard
With an open heartI.....................................How did I read the stars so wrong
I'm wide awake

And now ......................................
That everything you see
Ain't always what it seems
I'm wide awake
Yeah, I was dreaming .................................
[Pre-Chorus]I wish I knew then
What I know now
Wouldn't dive in
Wouldn't bow down
Gravity hurts
You made it so sweet
Till I woke up on
On .................................................
[Chorus]Falling from cloud 9
Crashing from the high
I'm letting go tonight
(Yeah I'm) Falling from cloud 9
I.....................................
Not losing any sleep
I picked up every piece
And landed on my feet
I'm wide awake
Need nothing to ......................- nooohooo
I'm wide awake
Yeah, I am born again

Outta the lion's den
I don't have to pretend
And it's too late
The story's over now, the end
[Pre-Chorus]I wish I knew then
What I know now

Wouldn't dive in
Wouldn't bow down
Gravity hurts
You made it so sweet
Till I .................................
On the concrete
[Chorus]Falling from cloud 9
Crashing ......................................
I'm letting go tonight (yeah, I'm letting go)
I'm Falling from cloud 9
Thunder rumbling
Castles crumbling
I am trying .......................................
God knows that I tried
Seeing the bright side
But I'm .................................................
I'm wide awake
I'm wide awake
[Chorus]Yeah, I'm Falling from cloud 9
Crashing from the high
You know I'm .........................................
I'm Falling from cloud 9

PET CARE

http://www.elllo.org/english/Mixer126/T130-Pets.htm

Kat / Germany
Hey, I have a favor to ask. I'm going to be out of town for two days, and I was wondering if you could take care of my hamsters. You just got to come in and feed them. I'll leave the key in the box. Thank you.
Warren / Canada
Hey, would you mind coming over during the week? I'm going out of town for a few days, and my pet cat, she needs some water and some food, just maybe if you could come once a day and make sure there's food and water there for her, that would be good.
Tim / United States
Hi, Sarah, I'm going out for the weekend, and I wondering if you could go to my house and feed my pet turtle, Shamus. It shouldn't take too much effort. You just need to give them a few pellets. The food is right underneath his tank. Don't feed him too much because it will leave a mess in the tank. And since he's kind of lazy, if you miss a day, it won't be a big deal, because he doesn't need too much food.
Paul / England
Oh, hi, Dave. I'm terribly sorry, and would appreciate it if you could feed my pet bird. It doesn't eat very much, but as long as you provide some water and some seed, then the bird will be happy. But if you could keep an eye out for the local cat, who is its archenemy.
Mike / Singapore
Hey, can you do me a favor help me feed my pet viper? He's very friendly, so you don't have to worry about him biting you. So just go ahead, put your hand inside the cage and feed him like five mice. THanks.
Katia / Mexico
Hey, this is Katia. Listen, can I ask you for a favor? Could you pass by my apartment? The key is under the mat, and if you can feed my dog the food that's in the pantry on the bottom drawer, and if you can just give him enough for only about one night. If he eats too much, it will not be a very good idea. And if you can just do that for me, that would be great. I'd really appreciate it. Thank you.

A. five days a week
B. six days a week
C. seven days a week

B. at the post office
C. from a local store
3. At times, Randall enjoys receiving regular letters sent through the postal service more than getting email because they're more _____________.
A. personal
B. convenient
C. exciting

_Hi, I'm Randall. The US mail service is still an important part of the communications system here in the United States, and in our area, mail is delivered between Monday and Saturday. On our street, it's usually delivered between one and three PM.
And if you want to send a piece of mail, you can stick it in your mailbox, and raise the red flag.
Our particular family, uh, sends it usually at the post office. One thing I still enjoy about receiving mail or cards from family and friend(s) . . . and you don't get that personal touch from sending and receiving email.

I think the Olympics focus a little too much on physical strength and prowess, so I would like to see something that is more skilled-base. So, if you could have a type of craft that people would work on, so have competitive chair building or competitive brick stacking. People build something and whoever does the best one wins the gold medal.

Shifani / New Zealand
I pick sumo wrestling. Absolutely, sumo wrestling. I think they're fantastic players. They're absolutely fantastic in the way they play the ritual they follow, so it's an excellent sport.

Katia / Mexico
I think one sport that I would like to see in the Olympics would be ballroom dancing. It's quite competitive. There are many good couples and singles that can do a very good job. So, I think ballroom dancing would be a reallycompetitivesport for the Olympics.

Alex / Australia
I was actually in the Olympics program for taekwondo when I was fifteen and stopped. So, I gave that up, because it was just far too much, practicing every day after school and then all day Saturday and Sunday. I preferred to live my life than getting gold medals, so ... which I probably would not have received anyway. So, yeah, I was able to do taekwondo. However, since then, since I did give it up, it's just gone down the toilet, I'd say.

Mike / Singapore
My choice would be chess for the Olympic. I think it can be a sport, because it uses a lot of mental strength. So, that would be my choice.

Adria / United States
I don't think I would add any, but I would definitely take some away. There are several sports that I don't like in the Olympics. I know that curling is actually an old sport, but I don't like it. And I think it's boring and doesn't require the right skill for the Olympics.

EMOTION AND SPORTS

http://www.elllo.org/video/1151/V1187BradSport.htm

A little about getting emotional when watching sports. I know I certainly get emotional sometimes during big games. I'll get emotional, you know, I'll yell and shout and stand up and clap if I'm watching like a play off game or, you know, some game like the Super Bowl or something like that where I've really got something invested in it. But generally speaking if it's just a normal season game, I really don't get too emotional. I definitely don't get emotional watching the Olympics. I don't know, you know, to really, to be honest you kind of have to be careful about why you're getting emotional about things. I mean I don't know any of the players on that team. I don't know anyone on Team Canada. They're not my friends so why am I getting emotional? It seems like you could, you know, easily, you know, become nationalistic if you don't, if you're not careful about it. So, yeah, I guess sometimes I get emotional but I sometimes worry about it too. Thanks very much.
